Dr. Rodríguez has served as Senior Vice Provost at the University of New Mexico (UNM) since 2018. She oversees faculty personnel matters; faculty labor relations; and academic policies and procedures. She is a professor of Speech and Hearing Sciences (SHS). Previously, she served as department chair and program director of the UNM SHS Department. She is the Vice President for Academic Affairs in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) for the American-Speech-Language and Hearing Association. She received her B.A. in communicative disorders and M.S. in SLP from UNM and Ph.D. in SLP from the University of Washington. Her research focuses on the linguistic processing mechanisms underlying language impairment in bilingual individuals and diagnosis of language impairment in bilingual individuals. Dr. R Rodríguez has been actively engaged in mentoring URM undergraduate and graduate students at UNM and across the US through her leadership roles in the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). Dr. Rodríguez is the recipient of ASHA’s Certificate of Recognition for Special Contributions in Multicultural Affairs. Dr. Rodríguez is the leading UNM administrator on faculty matters, including hiring, tenure, and promotion. Dr. Rodríguez works in close partnership with UNM deans and department chairs to support recruitment and retention of URM faculty.
